Thermostat & Controls Services, Georgetown TX
Thermostat Installation & Service
Install any thermostat, standard, programmable, or smart, with proper wiring, configuration, and testing.
Replace faulty or outdated thermostats. We identify compatibility requirements before recommending equipment.
Recalibrate thermostats reading inaccurately, a 2-3ยฐF offset causes significant comfort and efficiency problems in Georgetown's heat.
Determine if the thermostat or the system is the cause of HVAC problems, the thermostat is rarely the actual culprit.
Relocate thermostats away from heat sources, drafts, or direct sunlight that cause inaccurate temperature readings.
Install a common wire for smart thermostats that require continuous 24V power, without it, smart thermostats often malfunction.
Full smart thermostat setup including wiring, app configuration, scheduling, and compatibility verification.
Optimize thermostat response settings, anticipator adjustment, and stage sequencing for your specific system.

Fixing Line Voltage Power Delivery Problems
Power supply issues sit upstream of the equipment's own controls, involving the breaker panel, the disconnect, the contactor, and the wiring that delivers line voltage to the compressor, blower motor, and other line voltage components. These problems are distinct from control circuit faults because they affect whether the equipment gets power at all, rather than whether it's told correctly what to do with the power it has.
Contactor failure is one of the most common power supply issues we repair. The contactor is the relay that switches line voltage to the compressor and outdoor fan motor, and its contacts pit and burn from the arc created every time they open under load, eventually failing to close, welding shut, or closing with enough resistance to generate damaging heat. A contactor that's chattering, humming loudly, or showing visible pitting on its contacts is a failure in progress rather than something to wait out, since a welded contactor keeps the compressor running continuously even after the thermostat satisfies, which is both a comfort problem and a real risk of compressor damage from short cycling on restart.
Breaker related issues range from a simple worn breaker that trips below its rated current, which we test by checking actual amp draw against the breaker's rating, to a breaker that's the wrong size entirely for the circuit it protects. We also find failures at the disconnect and at wire splices along the run, particularly in older Georgetown homes where aluminum branch wiring, common in construction from the 1960s and 70s, requires specific anti-oxidant compound and compatible connectors at every splice or it develops high resistance connections over time regardless of how new the equipment attached to it is.
Our repair approach always confirms actual voltage is present and stable at each point in the circuit, panel, disconnect, contactor, and equipment terminal, rather than assuming power delivery is fine just because the breaker hasn't tripped. A breaker that hasn't tripped can still be feeding a circuit with significant voltage drop from a failing connection somewhere along the path, and finding that connection before it fails completely, often during a routine repair visit for an unrelated symptom, prevents a no-cool emergency call during the next heat wave.
