Thermostat & Controls Services, Georgetown TX
Thermostat Installation & Service
Install any thermostat, standard, programmable, or smart, with proper wiring, configuration, and testing.
Replace faulty or outdated thermostats. We identify compatibility requirements before recommending equipment.
Recalibrate thermostats reading inaccurately, a 2-3ยฐF offset causes significant comfort and efficiency problems in Georgetown's heat.
Determine if the thermostat or the system is the cause of HVAC problems, the thermostat is rarely the actual culprit.
Relocate thermostats away from heat sources, drafts, or direct sunlight that cause inaccurate temperature readings.
Install a common wire for smart thermostats that require continuous 24V power, without it, smart thermostats often malfunction.
Full smart thermostat setup including wiring, app configuration, scheduling, and compatibility verification.
Optimize thermostat response settings, anticipator adjustment, and stage sequencing for your specific system.
HVAC Electrical Diagnostics & Repair
Systematic low-voltage and line-voltage electrical diagnosis, find faults without replacing working components.
Repair damaged, corroded, or incorrectly wired HVAC control and power circuits.
Diagnose and repair HVAC power supply issues, breakers, disconnects, and line-voltage components.
Correct overcurrent or undersized circuit conditions causing tripped breakers or component damage.
Recover HVAC systems stuck in lockout, error states, or post-power-surge conditions.
Trace and repair 24V control circuit faults, shorts, opens, and incorrect wiring between thermostat and equipment.
Repair or replace outdoor AC disconnect boxes, fuses, and weatherhead connections.
Replace deteriorated flexible conduit and wiring connections at outdoor AC units.
HVAC Control Components
Diagnose and repair HVAC control system failures including boards, relays, and communication wiring.
Full system calibration, thermostat, controls, and equipment operating parameters aligned and verified.
Calibrate system staging, fan delays, and operating behavior for your specific comfort and efficiency goals.
Calibrate control signals between thermostat and equipment, staging, modulation, and communication signals.
Replace failed 24V control transformers, the power supply for the entire low-voltage control circuit.
Replace failed relay boards that control equipment staging and multi-zone operation.
Install safety disconnect switches for code compliance and service safety on HVAC equipment.
Replace aquastat controls on hydronic and boiler systems that regulate water temperature.
Install and configure zone control panels for multi-zone HVAC systems.
Install outdoor temperature sensors for weather-compensating controls and smart thermostat systems.
Determining Whether the Thermostat Is Actually the Problem
Thermostat diagnostics exists as its own service because the thermostat is frequently blamed for problems that actually originate elsewhere in the system, and replacing a functioning thermostat doesn't fix an underlying control circuit, wiring, or equipment fault, it just adds an unnecessary expense while the real problem continues. Our diagnostic approach treats the thermostat as one link in a chain rather than assuming it's the culprit just because it's the most visible and accessible component in the home.
We start by verifying the thermostat is receiving stable power, checking for correct voltage at its terminals whether it's battery powered, hardwired, or using a C-wire, since a thermostat that's browning out or losing power intermittently can display erratic behavior, unresponsive touchscreens, unexpected resets, blank displays, that looks exactly like a defective unit but is actually a power delivery problem elsewhere in the circuit. From there we test whether the thermostat is correctly sending its calls to the equipment, using a meter to verify voltage appears on the correct terminal, R to Y for cooling, R to W for heat, when the thermostat calls for that function, confirming the thermostat's own switching logic works correctly regardless of what happens downstream.
If the thermostat is confirmed to be sending correct signals and the equipment still doesn't respond, the problem is downstream in the wiring or the equipment's own control board, not the thermostat, and we redirect diagnosis accordingly rather than replacing a thermostat that's actually functioning correctly. Conversely, if the thermostat fails to send a call at all, or sends an intermittent or incorrect call, that points to an actual thermostat fault, an internal relay problem in mechanical thermostats or a control board issue in smart thermostats, that justifies replacement.
We also check for configuration issues that mimic hardware failure, a thermostat configured for the wrong equipment type, heat pump settings on a gas furnace system for example, can behave in ways that look like a malfunction but are actually a setup error with no hardware fault at all. Georgetown homes with a mix of equipment ages, an older furnace paired with a newer AC condenser, or a heat pump added alongside existing gas heat as a dual fuel setup, are where we most often find thermostat configuration mismatches that get misdiagnosed as thermostat hardware failure when the actual thermostat unit is working exactly as configured, just configured incorrectly for the equipment it's controlling.
